Shelby Cecil, recently retired Truckee-Carson Irrigation District Water
Master, was awarded the F. Gordon Johnston Award at the 2006 Mid Pacific
Region Water Conference.
This award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution
toward excellence in operations and maintenance or who has developed
innovative methods that have applicability and extensive benefits.
Cecil, an employee of TCID for 16 years has certainly met
and exceeded the qualifications for this award.

VALLEY ENVIRONMENTAL ALLIANCE
SEEKS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Due to the retirement of the current director, Lahontan Valley Environmental Alliance is seeking an Executive Director knowledgeable in the area of agriculture and natural resources, with an emphasis on water and other natural resource issues of Lahontan Valley. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating community entities in an effort to protect and sustain the natural resources and agricultural economy of the area. Other responsibilities may include coordinating Board member activities, publishing newsletters, tracking legislation, attending related meetings and maintaining detailed records. Must have strong administrative skills, general office skills, demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills, work well with diverse personalities. The ideal candidate will have the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or any combination of education and experience that will provide the desired knowledge and abilities for this position.
